PASKO NA SINTA KO
This beautiful song I first heard while I was on my Asian Tour Christmas,1989-1990. We played 4 sold out arena concerts @ Ultra Manila. I was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm, sincerity and adoration my Filipino fans generously bestowed upon me. One of the thrills of performing live occurs spontaneously when an audience sings along with me. Nowhere in the world do they do this better than in The Philippines.!
After the fIrst show I was so moved by their warmth, I wanted to perform a song in Tagalog as a gesture of my appreciation. I listened to many tracks later that night in my Hotel room but kept coming back to this Christmas ballad called ´Pasko Na Sinta Ko´. Such a beautiful melody sung by Gary Valenciano. I tried my best to learn the song quickly and properly for pronunciation but it hardly mattered to the supportive crowds in Manila the following night. With every new phrase I sang my loyal fans only cheered & sang along with me more fervently and emotionally.
My dearest friend Erika, whom most of you know well from the early days always took pictures or video films of me whenever she possibly could. So fortunately I have in archive boxes piled up in my Nassau home footage of these very concerts from January, 1990. The quality is not the best but I will post when i get the chance.
I hope you enjoy my live performance Unplugged of this Christmas classic. I really enjoyed singing it for you.. Until we meet again, I send you best wishes for the holiday season with respect and gratitude for the wonderful memories. No smile I have ever seen in my life is more welcoming or brighter than that of a Filipino.
Peace
